In Mesopotamia, Egypt, and in medieval Europe women often made beer with the grain left over from making bread. Like cooking and baking, brewing beer was considered women's work. Over the centuries domestic roles have shifted and beer has become a business, brewing has become largely male-dominated. Two women brewers in Tucson are challenging what has become the industry norm. We follow Ayla Kapahi and Savanna Saldate of Borderlands Brewing Co. as they show off their craft and remind us what we should know about the history of beer.
