Arizona has now had record-low unemployment for consecutive months, according to the latest report from the Office of Economic Opportunity..
The report showed that joblessness dropped a tenth of a percentage point in June to 3.3%, the lowest since the state started calculating the number 48 years ago.
It also bucks the national trend, which saw a 0.1% increase in unemployment, reaching 4.1%.
Unemployment is down from May, but so are the number of non-seasonally-adjusted jobs, with a decrease of about 46,300. Most of those losses came from the government, which is common this time of year as schools reduce staff for the summer, and seasonally adjusted numbers showed a drop of 1,900 jobs month over month.
Year over year numbers show growth though, adding 66,200 jobs since June 2023.
The state's big growth sector year-over-year was Health Care and Social Assistance, which accounts for about 40% of new jobs in the past year.
The government and Trade, Transportation and Utilities sectors were the next biggest areas for growth, each accounting for around 20% of new jobs apiece.
More than 3.6 million Arizonans had a job as of last month, with the labor force running about 120,000 people higher than that number.
