Sagwa, The Chinese Siamese Cat

The Zodiac Zoo/The Four Dragons

Season 1, Episode 32 of 40

The Zodiac Zoo - Sheegwa, Dongwa and Sagwa each want so desperately to be the best at everything. Mama Miao has had enough of the constant bickering and decides that the kittens need to hear an important story. She tells a tale about the twelve chosen animals in the Chinese calendar and how their order was ultimately determined. Because the animals fought over the order, a race was conducted so that all participants would have a fair chance to win. The kittens are astonished to learn that the rat (the animal least likely to win) managed to prevail using his quick wits. Through the rat's example, the kittens seem to understand that sometimes hard work and using your head is much more important that being the strongest or fastest. The Four Dragons - Fu-Fu and the kittens join up with some mice to actout a creation myth of China. The four stars take on the roles of four dragons that morphed into the great rivers of China. At first, their audience (the alley cats), mock the story. But they are soon drawn into the magical tale of the great rivers and the dragons they once were.
