The extraordinary flow of refugees and migrants from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, and other war-torn countries to Europe has actually been most acutely felt in three countries bordering Syria -- Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey. Jordan alone has taken in 1.5 million Syrian refugees, and about 80,000 of them live in Zaatari, one of the largest refugee camps in the world.
