The beloved Tchaikovsky ballet The Nutcracker has become an essential part of children's Christmases all over the world. THE NUTCRACKER STORY pays homage to this favorite musical fairy tale that has inspired artists over the decades, and examines why the ballet is still so important to us today. The Nutcracker tells the story of a group of children on an exciting journey into the adult world. There, they encounter evil forces, which the children overcome through faith in the power of love. The Nutcracker production has made its own exciting journey, traveling from Russia to the West and transforming itself from a simple fairy tale to a blockbuster stage production over two centuries. Today, some of The Nutcracker's most well-known characters - the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Mouse King and Uncle Drosselmeyer - have even reached iconic status.
