Following the sniper shooting of five police officers in Dallas, Texas and the lethal police shootings of African-American men in St. Paul, Minnesota, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, this one-hour prime time PBS NewsHour Weekend Special will explore the roots of these tragic events, competing accounts of responsibility, the quests for justice and the conversation Americans are having around losses, fears and common ground where progress can be made. The Friday night special will be hosted by Alison Stewart, with reports from Hari Sreenivasan, Chris Bury and Michael Hill.
