Fred Rogers' Heroes: Who's Helping America's Child

Episode 1 of 1

In this primetime special for adults, the late Fred Rogers ventured to neighborhoods beyond his own to uncover some true-to-life heroes -- people striving to create hope in a world where violence and alienation have become all too commonplace. In Shiprock, NM, Glojean Todacheene serves as a "hands-on" principal for Mesa Elementary School. Carole de la Rocha teaches Mexican dance and classical ballet to youngsters in her south central Los Angeles dance studio. In one of Chicago's toughest neighborhoods, Olomenji O'Connor trains grade school children in mediation and conflict resolution. And in the small community of Brewster, NY, Dr. Sam Ross runs a working farm where troubled youths interact with animals and nature.
