Throughout the country, some American workers and politicians, including President Trump, have long blamed the North American Free Trade Agreement -- or NAFTA -- for the loss of American manufacturing jobs to Mexico, where labor is cheaper. With plans to meet Mexican President Pena Nieto next week, President Trump has said renegotiating the 24-year-old free trade pact will top the agenda.
