This week’s program will look at two topics: Border – A rundown of what Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly told a congressional committee this week about border security, including comments from the Yuma County sheriff and Rep. Martha McSally. Kelly – John Kelly said at that hearing he will visit the border in Arizona this week. We are awaiting word on details and will cover his visit, presumably to Nogales and presumably Thursday, for a segment on the program. Vouchers – Once again, the Arizona Legislature is considering an expansion of the school vouchers program, this time so that all the state’s 1.1 million students and their families will be eligible for vouchers of $5,200 to go to private schools. A package from the state Capitol includes interviews with the sponsor, an opponent and members of a family now using vouchers. Private – Interview with the principal of the Gregory School, a private school in Tucson, on her thoughts about what the voucher program would do for her school. Salpointe – Interview with an official from Salpointe Catholic High School on how vouchers are working there now and how an expansion would affect the school.
