PBS News Weekend

Season 6, Episode 77 of 99

The country of South Sudan gained its independence from Sudan in 2011, but two years later, this new nation of 11 million people became embroiled in civil war. The conflict has led to a man-made famine and accusations of government soldiers conducting mass rape and ethnic cleansing, all of which has sparked a flood of refugees into surrounding countries. NewsHour Weekend Special Correspondent Simona Foltyn reports on the growing humanitarian crisis.
