Mr. Scott Eccles has been invited for dinner at Wisteria Lodge in the Surrey countryside, his host a gentle man of Spanish descent named Garcia. But a shock is in store for Mr. Scott Eccles when, the following morning, he can find no trace of his host, the footman or cook. Holmes and Watson set off to investigate this mysterious occurrence to discover that Garcia has been found, murdered.
