Climate change is one of many issues dividing Democrats and Republicans. Democrats, led by Al Gore and later Barack Obama, have tried to enact policies that reduce the air pollution caused by burning fossil fuels and develop alternative forms of energy. On the contrary, a dominant wing of the Republican Party has denied climate change and promoted skepticism that it's man-made -- ideas also promulgated by President Donald Trump. But some conservative Republican voices are now calling for action on climate change, led in some cases by evangelical Christians and a small number of Republican politicians.
