Phoenix Mars Mission

Episode 1 of 1

The Phoenix Mars Mission was designed to study the history of water and search for complex organic molecules in the ice-rich soil of the Martian arctic. Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at the first successful landing on the Mars polar region in 2008 and the ongoing search for signs of life on Earth's neighboring planets. The film documents the 422-million-mile journey through space to the heart-pounding, seven-minute descent onto the Red Planet seen exclusively through the eyes of principal investigator Peter H. Smith of the University of Arizona and the Phoenix Lander Team.
