PBS News Weekend

Season 8, Episode 25 of 99

On Sunday, Germany is holding national elections and the country's longtime chancellor, Angela Merkel, is seeking a fourth term. Recent polling shows her center-right Christian Democratic Union party ahead in the polls, as Germany continues to ride a wave of economic prosperity. NewsHour Weekend Special Correspondent Christopher Livesay also reports on how Merkel has rebounded from the backlash for admitting a million migrants and refugees from Syria, Iraq and other conflict zones, and how she has worked with U.S. presidents past and present.
