TEACHER’S UNION ON WALKOUT – Arizona 360 discusses this week’s planned teacher walkout with the president of the Tucson Education Association, Jason Freed. Topics include educators’ demands and what they plan to do during the walkout. TUSD SUPERINTENDENT ON WALKOUT – Superintendent Gabriel Trujillo discusses the contingency plans put in place by Tucson’s largest school district to address the teacher walkout, including what effects an extended walkout would have on the remainder of the schoolyear. CHARTER SCHOOLS AND RED FOR ED – Charlene Mendoza joins Arizona 360 to talk about how charter schools fit into the Red for Ed movement, which has been largely driven by teachers in public school districts. Mendoza is principal of the Arizona College Prep Academy in Tucson and a member of the Arizona Charter Schools Association’s Charter Leaders Advisory Council. GOVERNOR’S TEACHER RAISE PLAN – Former State Treasurer Dean Martin looks at the feasibility of Governor Doug Ducey’s plan to raise teacher salaries, and whether proposed funding sources are sustainable. BORDER PATROL TRIAL VERDICT – The Arizona Daily Star’s Perla Trevizo and the Tucson Sentinel’s Paul Ingram join Lorraine Rivera to discuss the trial of border patrol agent Lonnie Swartz after jurors acquitted the agent of 2nd degree murder for the shooting death of a Mexican teen in 2012.
