Paint This With Jerry Yarnell

Multnomah The Magnificent, Part 3

Season 16, Episode 3 of 13

In episode 3, Jerry shows how to create mist and haze at the base of the waterfall using again the "dry brush technique" glaze (which can also be used for smoke). This helps to connect your waterfall to the rocks. Using soft-vine charcoal, Jerry sketches in a couple of tree trunks using either the #2 or #4 chisel-edge brush. Now using #6 bristle brush, begin "tapping" in and shaping tree against misty background leaving good composition, negative space, and eye-flow. First form intermediate highlights are now added, forming the shape of the tree leaves a bit more. Next using #6 chisel-edge brush, Jerry adds another layer of white on the water.
