Only about a third of the European Union's 28 countries have laws on the books that allow the use of medical marijuana. But one country, Italy, not only fully supports the idea, but actually grows and distributes the marijuana itself. The country's lone medical marijuana facility is controlled by the military, which officials say helps hold the line against marijuana sold on the mafia-controlled black market. However, the government's yield can't keep up with demand, creating a shortages for cancer patients and others who need treatment. NewsHour Weekend Special Correspondent Christopher Livesay reports.
