Known as "The Jaws of Death," the crocodile is possibly the most frightening of predators - its prehistoric appearance further enhancing its deadly reputation. While it doesn't have the super-sensory receptors of the shark, it does posses two chilling qualities: patience and a very good memory. Rural Africans need the waterways for water, food and transport, and the crocodile is adept at ambushing two and four legged prey when they least expect it.
