In this episode, Jerry shows additional sketches he is using for his roadmap in this painting. Jerry starts off with more work on the canvas of the chuck wagon using his "scumbling" technique. Jerry shows how to create shadows while blocking in the kneeling cowboy at the campfire and then moves on to a standing cowboy. Next Jerry adds some eye-stoppers (weeds, bushes, twigs) which adds some proportion and frame to the painting plus contrast on water and smoke on the campfire. Jerry blocks in the old cast-iron pot. Lastly, Jerry creates highlights on the edge of the campfire posts, the pot, and some of the wood sticks near the campfire.
