The website has been calculating political probabilities for the last decade, and now a popular podcast has followed suit with analysis. Nate Silver's FiveThirtyEight blog burst onto the American political scene in 2008, when his analytic model calculated the results of the popular vote for the presidential election within one percentage point. Silver's reputation continued to grow over the next several elections, and in 2016 FiveThirtyEight launched what has become a wildly successful podcast that analyzes the latest political data streaming in from across the country. NewsHour Weekend's Christopher Booker recently spoke to Silver about his methods, and what to look for moving toward the week ahead's midterm elections.
