June watches terrified as Albert hands George a rifle - Adam, the male bear, has escaped and is heading for Upton. George and Billy manage to track him down and bring him home, but during the struggle George receives a bad wound to his shoulder. Dr Ford treats George's injury but the event has disturbed June, George knows he has to finish the bear enclosure before something more serious happens. However, with the bank refusing to lend him any more money, George concocts an idea to organise a charity benefit after a chance encounter with the eccentric Lady Goodwin. As the family prepare for the glamorous benefit in the ballroom at Selborne Hall - hosted by Lady Katherine - Camilla gathers signatures for an anti-zoo petition to deliver to the council.
