Season 10, Episode 64 of 99

Construction on Rome's new subway unearths ancient wonders. Rome's new Metro C line near the Colosseum has provided archaeologists with a rare opportunity to dig sometimes 65 feet below ground, an otherwise difficult depth. These excavations have uncovered thousands of relics, some dating back to the B.C. era. From farmland and its irrigation system to a 14-room home with a bathhouse, underground heating and mosaic floors, NewsHour Weekend Special Correspondent Christopher Livesay takes stock.
