PCSD DRUG INTERDICTION: Lorraine Rivera sees firsthand how the Pima County Sheriff’s Department investigates and interdicts drugs before they can be sold on the streets. SEIZING NARCOTICS & TREATING ADDICTION: PCSD Capt. Jeff Palmer and Sonoran Prevention Works’s Stacey Cope join Lorraine Rivera in studio to discuss how the ongoing issue of drug addiction fuels the market for illicit drugs in Southern Arizona, as well as law enforcement strategies for seizing narcotics and the approach taken by advocacy groups like Sonoran Prevention Works to treat addiction. LEAVING THE MONASTERY: Teresa Cavendish and Diego Pina Lopez of Catholic Community Services discuss the organization’s next location to shelter asylum seekers in Tucson. This week it was announced the group will move its operations from the Benedictine Monastery to Pima County’s Juvenile Justice Complex. SANCTUARY CITY INITIATIVE: As it appears an initiative to declare Tucson a sanctuary city will appear on the ballot, Lorraine Rivera discusses how the measure would change city code with Zaira Livier, executive director of the Peoples Defense Initiative which is spearheading efforts to pass the Tucson Families Free and Together initiative. TUCSON MAYORAL CANDIDATE ED ACKERLEY – Arizona 360 is sitting down with the City of Tucson mayoral candidates who qualified for the ballot. This week, we hear from Independent candidate Ed Ackerley.
