GOV. DOUG DUCEY: Arizona Governor Doug Ducey sits down with Lorraine Rivera at Arizona Public Media to discuss a variety of issues like his efforts to encourage Congress to ratify the USMCA, a trade deal that would replace NAFTA; new border wall construction in Arizona; and funding for public education. TUSD SEX-ED CURRICULUM REFORM: The Tucson Unified School District’s efforts to update it sex education curriculum has created controversy as proposed changes involve teaching beyond “abstinence only.” Arizona 360 hears from both a supporter and opponent of the reforms. Arizona Public Media reporter Duncan Moon also explains the district s next steps as it considers the feedback it has received so far. CHRISTIANE AMANPOUR ON A FREE PRESS: Christopher Conover spoke to longtime journalist Christiane Amanpour about challenges with sustaining a free press, her views on what it means to be fair and advice for young reporters entering the field. Amanpour was recently in Tucson to receive the Zenger Award for Press Freedom from the University of Arizona School of Journalism. YOUNG CLIMATE ACTIVISTS IN THEIR OWN WORDS: In a return to Arizona 360’s commentary series “Own Words,” we hear from Daniel Casanova and Kyle Kline – two University of Arizona students and leaders of last week’s climate strike protest in Tucson about why they believe the issue of climate change should be at the forefront.
