In this final episode, Jerry uses #4 chisel-edge brush and continues highlights on feathers in front of rooster's breast area and main part of body. In all areas Jerry emphasizes using pockets of negative space to create form. Jerry uses dark mixture to create better structure in various areas of the rooster. Jerry illustrates use of 'cast shadow' on rooster's back. Now switches to the #2 chisel-edge brush to add more accent highlights which create illusion of sunlight on bird. Add a cast shadow where the rooster is standing and highlights to the post to create rutted wood look and a cap on the board. Finally Jerry adds suggestion of another chicken in the barnyard. This painting has many wonderful techniques that students can use over and over to create various paintings of their own creations.
