Season 2, Episode 47 of 49

FORT HUACHUCA & THE MILITARY IN AZ: This week, Arizona 360 takes viewers to Fort Huachuca in Sierra Vista to learn more about the post s mission and its economic impact in Southern Arizona. Lorraine Rivera sits down with post commander Maj. Gen. Laura Potter and sees firsthand how Fort Huachuca prepares soldiers in the 305th Battalion, the largest training battalion on post. Rivera also learned how the post manages its military housing and visited one family’s home. Outside of the post, in the city of Sierra Vista, Rivera spoke to Larry Portouw (Port-oh), a retired Army colonel and president of the Fort Huachuca 50, about how the group advocates on behalf of the post and its significance to Cochise County. She also learned more about the military’s overall effect on Arizona’s economy from Alan Maguire, the head of the Maguire Company. The company did a study in 2017 looking at the financial impact of the state’s six major military installations and four principal National Guard operations.
