Weekends With Yankee

The Arts

Season 3, Episode 4 of 13

On this episode of Weekends with Yankee, we discover why nothing says summer in New England like Tanglewood, as cohost Amy Traverso heads out to the Berkshires to see what it takes to make the perfect picnic for this famous music festival. Next, we travel to Williamstown, Massachusetts, to experience the Williamstown Theatre Festival and catch a performance by Matthew Broderick in a new play called The Closet. Then it's over to New Hampshire to tour the Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site, the former home of one of America's greatest sculptors. Finally, cohost Richard Wiese visits the MacDowell Colony, an artists' colony in Peterborough, New Hampshire, that has hosted such legends as composers Aaron Copland and Leonard Bernstein and Our Town playwright Thornton Wilder.
