This program surveys the role of the Mesquite tree in the desert Southwest. Learn about the giant Mesquite Bug, which lives solely on this thorny habitat, and discover the many uses humans have for the Mesquite: from culinary (as a barbecue additive) to furniture making. Also, view artifacts from the Arizona State Museum of different items made of Mesquite highlighting the cultural and historical uses of Mesquite by the Tohono O'odham and other tribes.
