Accompany a college geology class field trip through the upper stretches of Sonora, Mexico. See the evidence of a major earthquake from the late 1800s, and visit several hot springs to see indications of current geological activity. Also explore the connections of geology with climate, vegetation and animals. Travel inside a lava tube to find a colony of bats, then examine some of the cultural aspects of geology with a visit to Arizpe, an old colonial town and the former capital of Sonora where past earthquake damage is still evident.
