In his illustrious career, von Karajan led the legendary Berlin Philharmonic for 35 years; he was also closely associated with the Vienna Philharmonic and served as artistic director of the Vienna State Opera. He was the last dictator among conductors, and the first successful large-scale classical music entrepreneur. And in everything he did, he was ahead of his time. The film, produced on the occasion of the von Karajan centenary, chronicles the career of a true giant of classical music.
