One of the 20th century's most famous and influential figures in classical music, conductor Herbert von Karajan would have turned 100 in 2008. In his illustrious career, von Karajan led the legendary Berlin Philharmonic for 35 years; he was also closely associated with the Vienna Philharmonic and served as artistic director of the Vienna State Opera. He was the last dictator among conductors, and the first successful large-scale classical music entrepreneur. And in everything he did, he was ahead of his time. The film, produced on the occasion of the von Karajan centenary, chronicles the career of a true giant of classical music.
