Vienna Philharmonic Summer Night's Concert 2009

Season 34, Episode 13 of 9

The world-renowned Vienna Philharmonic presents its sixth annual open-air concert at the magnificent Schonbrunn Palace. Daniel Barenboim leads the ensemble in an evening of works inspired by the night. Highlights include Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's hallmark "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" from 1787, Manuel de Falla's "Nights in the Gardens of Spain" (featuring Maestro Barenboim as pianist), Modest Mussorgsky's bewitching "Night on Bald Mountain," the characteristically Viennese "1001 Nights" Waltz by the Waltz King himself, Johann Strauss, and his brother Josef's fast Polka, "Im Fluge."
