Textiles, Society and Memory: CUMBI Cumbi was a fine luxurious fabric of the Inca Empire. Elites used to offer cumbi to the rulers and it was reserved cloth for Royalty. Common people were not allowed to wear Cumbi. The exhibition CUMBI: Textiles, Society, and Memory in Andean South America at the Tucson Museum of Art, offers a new look at 2,000 years of art in Andean traditions. You will find textiles from the ancient Andes alongside the creations of contemporary Latin American and Latinx artists in this exhibition. Parents from Raising Voices Coalition are expressing how this program has helped solve previous issues like high direct care worker turnover, housing insecurity, and financial instability which has long plagued families who are caring for their disabled children.
