Amphi Panteras Part one of this story aired in 2022 and left off with the Tucson Tenants Union stepping in to advocate for the tenants at the Monterey Garden Apartments, where the leases of all 52 units had been terminated. The story looked at the lack of affordable housing within Tucson and how questionable landlord practices contribute to the growing housing crisis. Part 2 broadens that microcosm to Tucson’s Amphi neighborhood where tenant activist group the ‘Amphi Panteras are focusing their attention on the Malibu Apartments where tenants are fighting for their tenants’ rights. Stories that Soar! Stories that Soar! programs (STS!) empowers K-12 students by giving voice to their original words and creative ideas through a variety of literacy and arts programs. Literacy Connects’ Stories that Soar! taps into the wellspring of children’s imaginations. This program transforms and shares students’ words and ideas through the arts to inspire creativity, promote active literacy, and build engaged communities. This is done through students submitting their own stories to their school’s “ Magic Box” from which a team of professional actors and musicians select a number of them to turn into performances held at the school s assembly.
