Burton Court with its 14th century Great Hall is one of the most important historic houses in Herefordshire. Since the 1960s Commander Robert Simpson, and his wife Helen, have lived there. In order to maintain the house, Commander Robert started a soft-fruit farm and Helen opened a rather eccentric costume and curio museum. But in recent years neither have been making enough money to keep the house going. With the situation looking decidedly bleak, their 31-year-old son Edward decides that the only option to save the house is to turn it into an up-market wedding and function venue. -more- Robert and Helen sink most of their life savings into the new business, but the family starts to quarrel when it turns out to be a lot harder and a lot less lucrative than Edward imagined.
