Arizona Illustrated

Season 61, Episode 55 of 68

Luis Carrión introduces us to Iskashitaa Refugee Network, a grass-roots organization that helps rebuild refugee lives. They are teaming with Tohono Chul Park to harvest mesquite trees, and in the process the refugees are learning about the unique plants that are a part of their new desert home. What is gluten-free anyway? We speak to local food activists who are trying to provide more culinary options for local restaurant patrons who are gluten sensitive. Tony Paniagua speaks to the Pima County Health Department about upcoming immunization clinics that provide an opportunity for children to get their shots before returning to school. Tony continues our discussions with TPAC’s Lumie winners with the honoree in the category of Arts Education Program. This week’s History Moment rounds out the show.
