Celebration of Classic Mgm Film Musicals

Episode 1 of 1

Celebrate 75 years of MGM musicals as star musicians and singers from the classical and musical theatre worlds re-create the sounds of the golden age of Hollywood. Performances include show-stopping songs from movie classics "The Wizard of Oz," "Meet Me in St. Louis," "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," "High Society," "Gigi," and more. Seth MacFarlane ("Family Guy") and others sing "Singin' in the Rain," "Steppin' Out With My Baby," "Wonderful, Wonderful Day," and more. One of the highlights of the 2009 BBC Proms season, the special was taped live from the Royal Albert Hall with the John Wilson Orchestra. Though the original scores have been lost, conductor John Wilson painstakingly transcribed each soundtrack by ear.
