The Boyles have lived at Kelburn Castle on the Ayrshire coast since the 12th century, making it one of the oldest historic houses to have been in continuous occupation by one family. The Boyles were once one of the wealthiest families in Scotland with land and property all over Scotland and northern England. The current occupant of Kelburn is Patrick Boyle, the 10th Earl of Glasgow. He took over Kelburn and its 3000 acre estate in the 1970s. He believed that by creating a country park and opening up the castle for dinners and tours, he could make Kelburn pay for itself. Lord Glasgow was wrong. Over the last 15 years he has lurched from one financial crisis to another. With the Country Centre facing closure and the bank threatening to foreclose on him will Lord Glasgow save the castle?
