Audiences will be "Glee-ful" to see their darling Mr. Schuester in his own PBS special, Matthew Morrison: Where It All Began - Live from the Bushnell. Morrison sustains a modern sensibility as he wins over the audience with American standards -- and familiar surprise -- including "Lady is a Tramp," "Younger than Springtime," "Don't Mean a Thing," and "Ease on Down the Road." Morrison is extremely appealing and a champion at holding a note as he executes athletically graceful dance moves. Shot in Hartford, Connecticut's Bushnell Theater in late 2012 in front of an enchanted crowd, Matthew is accompanied by an orchestra and his own funk-injected backup singers/dancers and band. Bold images on a giant screen at the rear of the stage capturing the essence of the songs further enhance the performance. Brad Ellis, who quietly accompanies Mr. Shu on Glee, is Morrison's accompanist on stage, creating a warm, familiar atmosphere. Morrison, who grew up in the O.C. (aka Orange County, California), attended New York University's Tisch School for two years until he could no longer resist the bright lights of Broadway. His talent is reflected by the shows he has starred in: He originated the role of Link Larkin in Hairspray, earned a Tony nomination for his performance in Light in the Piazza and was Lieutenant Cable in the first revival of South Pacific. In 2009, his role in Glee took him to new heights of success and popularity.
