The dramatic appearance of a mysterious man at the funeral of a wealthy woman sets tongues wagging in a small Yorkshire village in this episode. As members of the grieving family squabble over her estate, they are horrified when the stranger claims to be her long-lost son. When he is suddenly found murdered, Dalziel and Pascoe are called in to investigate the man's real identity.
