Bluegrass Underground

Alison Brown Quartet

Season 3, Episode 12 of 12

Whether lyrical Celtic music, sophisticated polyrhythmic jazz or pedal-to-the-metal bluegrass, the Alison Brown Quartet does it all. Performing at the highest level, this band offers hybrid compositions that are as pleasing as they are complex. Often compared to fellow banjo prodigy Bela Fleck, Brown holds the honor of International Bluegrass Music Association's Banjo Player of the Year. A three-time Grammy Award winner, she has toured with Alison Krauss and Michelle Shocked and is the driving force of Nashville's indie label, Compass Records.
