The Yorkshire Vet

Steeped in history and rich with heritage, the original ‘James Herriot’ practice was set up by the late Donald Sinclair and the late Alf Wight aka James Herriot in 1940, resulting in Alf’s books and the hugely popular TV series All Creatures Great and Small.This series stars the staff at the original practice of Alf Wight, (better known as James Herriot) in Thirsk, North Yorkshire. In The Yorkshire Vet, Julian Norton is joined by his partner, fellow vet and former Herriot trainee, Peter Wright, as well as their dedicated team of staff at Skeldale Veterinary Center (James Herriot’s original practice). Viewers get an inside look at the practice, based in thepicturesque market town of Thirsk, North Yorkshire, and its clientele – both two-legged and four-legged! All vets at Skeldale have been trained to deal with all creatures great and small, and have the expertiseto administer medical aid and surgical skills to any animal whatever its size.
