In Bedazzled, Dudley Moore plays introvert Stanley Moon, a short order cook at a Wimpy’s restaurant. Stanley is secretly in love with the waitress Margaret (Eleanor Bron), whom he admires from afar because he is too shy to talk to her. Depressed with his miserable life and unrequited love for Margaret, Stanley decides to commit suicide. While he is trying to hang himself, Stanley is suddenly interrupted by George Spiggot (Peter Cook), who is actually the devil.

Spiggot offers to grant Stanley seven wishes, in exchange for his soul. Stanley agrees, in hopes of winning Margaret’s love. Though his wishes are granted, they are never really what Stanley intended.
