Loreto Marine Sanctuary

Catalina Island, a biological reserve in the park, is home to terrestrial plants and animals that have been so physically isolated that they have isolated themselves genetically – they are new species. Here you can find a rattlesnake with no rattle to warn its prey of a potential attack and encounter a barrel cactus over ten feet tall.

See a preview and find out more at The Desert Speaks site.

Watch it Thursday, November 20th at 8pm PBS-HD
