In this episode Wishbone becomes a star when Wanda's well-renowned art ist cousin comes to Oakdale to create a masterpiece model of Wishbone for the city's park. The story parallels Wishbone's grooming for great ness with Charles Dickenson's Great Expectations in which Pip, a lowly blacksmith's apprentice, mysteriously inherits a fortune from a secre t criminal benefactor. David, who becomes an egotistical artist's assi stant, and Pip learn the valuable lesson of never forgetting their tru e friends just because of short-term status gained when they are both betrayed by the wealthy, snobbish women they have been trying to impre ss.
