MUMMIES MADE IN EGYPT, written and illustrated by Aliki is the READING RAINBOW book of the day. Levar Burton goes to the Boston Museum of F ine Arts which houses the largest mummy collection in the U.S. The sh ow also turns to Kalamazoo, Michigan where they try to examine the mum my corpse and reconstruct the face, by examining x-rays of the skull. The likeness of the mummified person is recreated with styrofoam, pl astic and clay. This way archeologists have an idea of what the perso n looked like 2500 years ago.
