Ralphie The Parrot Flies Away

Season 41, Episode 55 of 99

Baby Bear tells Alan how great his pet parrot Ralphie is. He can squawk, say some words, and even rhyme! The very best part is that he is one of Baby Bear's best friends. That is why when Ralphie flies away and hides in a tree, Baby Bear gets very upset. What's worse is that once he finds Ralphie, Ralphie won't listen and refuses to come down! Following the advice of "Parroting Magazine," Baby Bear asks Elmo and Zoe to dress up like parrots and dance the Parrot Polka to coax Ralphie down, but it doesn't work. Zoe thinks of another solution- maybe Ralphie is hungry. Ralphie always loves to eat, but instead of coming for his food, Ralphie flies further away. Baby Bear doesn't understand why Ralphie would do this. Alan helps Baby Bear see Ralphie's point of view. If Baby Bear were a bird with wings, wouldn't he want to see what it's really like to fly? Baby Bear admits he never thought of how Ralphie might feel, but he sure will miss him. Just as Baby Bear is beginning to accept that Ralphie is gone, he comes back, making Baby Bear very happy! Baby Bear learns that sometimes a bird has to fly and sometimes a bird has to come home. EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVE: Cognitive Reasoning
