In this episode, host LeVar Burton explains the imp ortant role nature has in Native American culture. Narrator Michael An sara reads AND STILL ATHE TURTLE WATCHED, a book by Sheila MacGill-Cal lahan about how the natural world in America, once revered by Native A mericans, has been slowly destroyed by Western industrialization and a griculture. Other features include a report on the Sutton Project, whi ch is a conservation program that raises young bald eagle chicks in ca ptivity to increase their chances for survival into adulthood, and a d emonstration on how kids can plant trees and appreciate the environmen t. The kids review A RIVER RAN WILD, THIRTEEN MOONS ON TURTLE'S BACK, and MY FIRST GREEN BOOK.
